Sometimes it seems to freeze when I'm "doing something" (like streaming a youtube video). Sometimes I can plug and unplug the headset as many times as I like, no matter what port I use, and it will work. Like I said, this issue occurs seemingly randomly. (Thought I would bring it up nonetheless.) I figured this does not apply to my chassis, however, since mine is R5, not R4. They said that customers should contact Fractal Design and have them send a replacement cable. I found a Linus Tech Tips video on the Fractal Design R4 saying that the front USB was wired incorrectly.

I tried googling in case the chassis might be the culprit. *I even did a clean install of Windows 10, in case there were some driver-issue that couldn't be uninstalled (and even changed the old hard drive to a brand new SSD in the process - no old drivers should be left.) *Changed BIOS settings to enable USB XHCI hand-off. (I even made sure that Windows doesn't automatically install drivers for my computer.) Then downloading and re-installing them manually from ASUS website. *Uninstalling all the usb-related drivers manually.

*Changing the port on the motherboard to which the front usb is connected. I am forced to press the tiny reset button to restart the computer in order to unfreeze it. Sometimes (seemingly randomly) when I connect a usb device (usually my cell phone - for charging, or my headphones) to the front usb port my computer freezes. *The front USB ports are two USB 2.0 and two USB 3.0 (There's also Audio In/Out, but I don't use those) However, Fedora certainly does, and it's not working.*Chassis: Fractal Design R5 (Black, no window) It may be worth mentioning that the laptop uses UEFI rather than BIOS and I'm not sure if all the distros I'm trying support UEFI. To eliminate possible causes, I scanned the USB drive for errors under Windows 8 and it came out clean.

I've tried Knoppix 7.0.4, Fedora 18, Backtrack 5r3 and GParted Live (all of them LiveCD ISOs). This behavior occurs regardless of which distribution I'm trying to boot. With Universal USB Installer, it simply freezes on boot, without the menu. If I leave the laptop running after it freezes, it starts to overheat, probably due to high CPU load. If I let the timer expire, it starts booting, but freezes right after loading ubninit or displaying the SYSLINUX info depending on the distro (basically after loading initrd, I think). However, if press Enter to skip the countdown, or if I press an arrow key to choose another option, the laptop freezes instantly. With unetbootin, I get presented with a menu listing several boot options depending on the distribution I'm trying to boot, with a ten second countdown timer until it boots the Default entry. It doesn't have an optical drive, so I'm using a USB flash drive, and deploying the Linux ISOs to it using either unetbootin or Universal USB Installer. I'm trying to boot a live distro on a VAIO YB35AL ultrabook.
